This is one of the most unforgettable performances of a church hymm ever recorded featuring two of Southern Gospel singers, Glen Payne and Guy Penrod. “The Haven of Rest.” It’s a beautiful hymn and the chorus resonates with these powerful voices: “I’ve anchored my soul in the Haven of Rest. I’ll sail the wide seas no more. The tempest may sweep o’er the wild, stormy deep; In Jesus, I’m safe evermore!”

The Haven of Rest (Lyrics)
Words by H.L. Gilmour
Music by George D. Moore
Arranged by Marty Parks
My soul, in sad exile, was out on life’s sea,
So burdened with sin and distressed;
Then I heard a sweet voice saying, “Make Me your choice,”
And I entered the Haven of Rest.
I’ve anchored my soul in the Haven of Rest.
I’ll sail the wide seas no more.
The tempest may sweep o’er the wild, stormy deep;
In Jesus, I’m safe evermore. Evermore.
I yielded myself to His tender embrace,
Faith taking hold of His Word,
My fetters fell off!
And I anchored my soul!
The Haven of Rest is my Lord!
I’ve anchored my soul in the Haven of Rest.
I’ll sail the wide seas no more.
The tempest may sweep o’er the wild, stormy deep;
In Jesus, I’m safe evermore!
Oh, I’ve anchored my soul in the Haven of Rest!
I’ll sail the wide seas no more.
The tempest may sweep o’er the wild, stormy deep;
In Jesus, I’m safe; In Jesus, I’m safe evermore! Safe evermore!
