About Jimmy Fortune

Born in Staunton, Virginia on March 11, 1955, Fortune began his career as a singer in high school as a member of the Nelcon County High School choir. It was in 1981 when Fortune was discovered by Lew DeWitt of The Statler Brothers. He replaced Lew DeWitt and became an integral part of the group, and he wrote several of their latter-day hits, including “Elizabeth,” “Too Much on My Heart,” and “More Than a Name on a Wall.” He spent 21 years touring, singing, and performing with the Statler Brother. In 2002, after the Statlers disbanded, Fortune continued his career as a solo artist. Fortune and the Statlers were welcomed into the Country Music Association Hall of Fame in 2008.

In a world often filled with chaos and uncertainty, moments of gratitude can be a balm for the soul. The Redeemed Quartet’s live performance of “Thank You Lord, For Your Blessings On Me” at The Cabin is a perfect example of this uplifting spirit.

Based in the great Midwest State of Indiana, Redeemed Quartet, who were raised on traditional Gospel music and Biblical values, the 4 best friends (who are 2 sets of brothers) were called by God from the hills of Southern Indiana. At ages 16, 17, 18, & 19, they took to singing practice four nights per week. Ben Duncan and his brother Nate Duncan, teamed up with brothers Caleb Koble and Josh Koble in the quartet.

From their start in 2014, their mission has been to shine a light in the darkness and lift the weary traveler, while showcasing four-part harmony and life-changing lyrics. Internet recognition grew in 2015 after posting a simple live video of the classic “Just A Little Talk With Jesus”. Within a matter of months, the budding quartet found a quickly growing audience of online listeners and avid fans. Presently, the group travels locally on a leisurely schedule in order to intentionally prioritize their families, while maintaining a regular schedule of video & studio productions.

Don Reid sang lead; Harold Reid, Don’s older brother, sang bass; Phil Balsley sang baritone, and Lew DeWitt sang tenor and was the guitarist before being replaced due to ill health by Jimmy Fortune in 1982.The quartet was formed in 1955 performing locally, and from 1964 to 1972, they sang as opening act and backup singers for Johnny Cash. The Statlers earned the number-one spot on the Billboard chart four times, for “Do You Know You Are My Sunshine?” in 1978, “Elizabeth” in 1984, and in 1985, “My Only Love” and “Too Much on My Heart.”Since forming, the Statlers have released over 40 albums.
