About George Beverly Shea

George Beverly Shea was a renowned American gospel singer, born on February 1, 1909, in Winchester, Ontario. He became a household name through his powerful voice and deep faith. Shea’s music touched millions around the world.

From a young age, George showed a passion for music. He learned to play the piano and began singing in church. His talent blossomed as he joined the choir at his local church. It wasn’t long before he caught the attention of larger audiences.

In the 1940s, Shea joined evangelist Billy Graham’s crusades. This partnership would define his career. Shea’s renditions of hymns like “How Great Thou Art” and “I’d Rather Have Jesus” became iconic. His warm baritone voice brought comfort and hope to countless listeners.

Shea’s influence extended beyond live performances. He recorded over 70 albums throughout his life, selling millions of copies. His songs inspired generations to embrace faith through music.
